Han Calisthenics 漢導引 Preliminary Movement also known as 漢導引預備式,
this movement serves to regularize respiration and improve circulation.
Han Calisthenics Preliminary Movement - 漢導引預備式 Practicing Time:
For beginners, five minutes is enough for the first session. You may gradually
increase the duration of time at your own discretion or upon the advice of your
coach.
Han Calisthenics Preliminary Movement - 漢導引預備式 Main Points:
Stand with arms hanging down, exert no strength, keep the mind calm, and
original Qi will be activated.
Han Calisthenics Preliminary Movement - 漢導引預備式 Method:
1: Stand with two feet parallel to each other. Two feet are as wide apart as
the armpits.
2: Bend the knees slightly for about half an inch.
3: Relax the whole body and do not exert any strength. ( This applies to all the
movements of Han Calisthenics.)
4: Breathe naturally and free yourself of any distracting ideas.
5: The arms hang down loosely by the sides. and the backs of the hands face the
front, with the fingers apart and the index fingers sticking out.
6: The head rests easily on the neck, with the chin slightly tucked in.
7: The tip of the tongue touches the ridge behind the upper teeth and the eyes
look ahead in a relaxed manner. (This applies to all Han
Calisthenics movements.)
8: Keep the mind calm and wait 1 for original Qi to make the elbows and hands
tremble. (Do not exert strength to jerk your fingers. All Han
Calisthenics movements are AUTOMATIC. )

Han Calisthenics Preliminary Movement - 漢導引預備式 Note:
If original Q'i makes the whole body tremble violently, immediately stop it
with your mind and take a walk.
Do it again the next day. If you feel uncomfortable or painful in some areas of
your body because of their past ailments, try to bear it. This is the reaction
of the ailing areas to the activation of Qi. The discomfort of the ailing areas
will gradually decrease and disappear.
If strange phenomena occur during or after your practice, consult your coach for
direction.
